Abstract
This report presents a description of the FLEETSIM model and a number of results which have been produced using this model to evaluate future maritime force structure options. The FLEETSIM model is a resource scheduling simulation model where different types of ships and aircraft are scheduled to perform a comprehensive selection of routine and unforeseen maritime force generation and force employment activities. This model was used to investigate the ability of different future maritime force structures to respond to Canada's national and international defence requirements. The results of this effort created an empirical and logical process that links national policy directives to maritime force structure requirements. Many possible force structures were examined and compared to the current (1998) Maritime force structure.
