Abstract
These guidelines for Human Factors Engineering (HFE) in the design and evaluation of Command, Control and Information Systems (CCIS) were prepared for HFE personnel who are responsible for carrying out the HFE tasks in a CCIS development project. This document is a companion to two other documents. The first, Guidelines for Human Factors Engineering Requirements for Canadian Forces Command and Control Information Systems (CCIS HFE Requirements) (1) advises DND project management staff (PM and PMO) on the requirements for HFE in a CCIS project. It is adapted from Human Engineering Requirements for Military Systems, Equipment, and Facilities (US MIL-STD-46855) (2) The second document, User Manual: Guidelines for Human Factors Engineering Requirements for Canadian Forces Command and Control Information Systems (CCIS HFE Requirements User Manual (3) advises project management staff on how to implement the requirements.
