Abstract
This report examines aspects of Canadian Forces (CF) housing and accommodations along two related dimensions. First, satisfaction of members and military families with the quality of CF housing is reviewed. Changes in levels of satisfaction with single and married quarters across recent decades are described; key characteristics of housing that influence satisfaction are identified; and the impact of satisfaction with housing on the overall military career satisfaction of personnel is estimated. Second, the relationship between the wider Quality of Life (QOL) of personnel (such as that derived quality housing and accommodations) and critical military effectiveness factors (performance, commitment, morale, retention, and others) is explored. A wide range of international data and findings from military and civil sources are employed for this discussion.
