Abstract
While the Canadian Forces (CF) does not currently possess a strategic lift capability, key Department of National Defence (DND) documents indicate that this shortcoming will be addressed as a priority. This report provides a step towards understanding how distance impacts the demand for strategic lift. It uses historical information on past CF operations to calculate the distribution of the distances travelled by major strategic lift operations. The strategic lift operations are also grouped by force planning scenarios to produce scenario specific distance distributions.
