Transition to detonation in fuel-air explosive clouds

Abstract
Several experimental obserations of transition to detonation in fuel-air mixtures have clearly demonstrated that transition phenomena, similar to those idientified in more sensitive fuel-oxygen mixtures, can also occur in fuel-air mixtures. This means that the worst case detonation sceanrio cannot be excluded a priori in assessing the hazards from vapour cloud explosions. The present paper describes the considerable progress that has been made towards quantifying the potential for transition to detonation in a fuel-air-cloud.
