Abstract
Knowledge of attrition is crucial to properly plan the recruitment and training of Regular Force members as well as for budgeting purposes: the better the forecasts, the better the management. Estimates of attrition by occupation for officers and non-commissioned members (NCMs) were provided in a short time frame. This report presents the methodology used. The forecasts indicate an increase in expected attrition for NCMs, going from 6.6% in fiscal year (FY) 2001/2002 to 9.2% in FY 2005/2006. Attrition for officers stays around 6% during the same period.
