Abstract
The Single Instruction Multiple Data (SIMD) instruction set extensions introduced on the PIII processor are of potential importance in signal processing and other application. This report presents the results of an initial investigation for two implementations of the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) into the achievable performance benefits and their dependence on factors such as cache memory size and speed.
