Abstract
The Personnel Operational Research Team (PORT) maintains Military Personnel Databases for Non-Commissioned Members (NCMs) and Officers. The databases are used primarily to supply the historical attrition, promotion and demographic data required for PORT's career flow modelling activities. From time to time, the databases are used to provide historical context for military policy analyses. A careful review of the 18 years of data in these databases revealed a number of inconsistencies that had developed over time. This paper discusses the process of minimizing these inconsistencies and demonstrates the value of these databases through concrete examples of some recently completed data requests.
