Abstract
The NATO Performance Assessment Questionnaire (PAQ) was developed to obtain a large database on fatigue, motion sickness and task performance problems associated with ship motions in the naval environment. The PAQ was deployed on seven ships of the NATO Standing Naval Forces Atlantic fleet (STANAVFORLANT), during North Atlantic combat exercises in February and March of 1997. The resulting PAQ database contains over 16,500 completions of the 41-parameter 'Symptoms' and 'Performance' sections of the PAQ. This Technical Memorandum documents the wind and wave environments experienced by the ships, and examines ship motions measured on two of the ships. Detailed tables of the types nad severity of symptoms and performance problems are reported for all seven ships, and correlation between ship motions and PAQ parameters are reported for one ship.
