Abstract
This report provides a selection guide and specification charts for the selection of fibre optic transmitters and receivers for digital telemetry between the Fibre Optic Array Module (FOAM) and Fibre Optic Receive Unit (FORU) of TIAPS. A total of five fibre optic paths (5 X 62.5/125 mu m multimode fibre) transmit data from the two receive arrays to receive hardware on the ship. Data rates are expected to be between 25 and 50 Mbps. Selection of appropriate fibre optic transmitters and receivers requires consideration of environmental, electrical, optical, and mechanical specifications of the devices, as well as general system design guidelines for fibre optic telemetry.
