Abstract
This report marks the third in a series of Human Factors Engineering (HFE) reports prepared for the Defence and Civil Institute of Environmental Medicine (DCIEM) in support of the Directorate of Aerospace Requirements (DAR 5) for the Department of National Defense (DND). The objective of this Information Flow and Processing (IFP) Analysis of the CF18A in the Air to Ground mission is to establish a baseline of information that will be used to assess the impact of Helmet Mounted Display (HMD) and Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) technologies and the flow of information in the cockpit of the Modernized CF-18A. This report documents the findings of the HFE IFP Analysis of the CF18A in an Air to Ground Role in accordance with the Statement of Work (SOW), Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) Requisition No. W7711-017741. While the analysis follows the general principles and guidelines for HFE as described in MIL-HDBK-46855 "Human Engineering Program Process and Procedures", the IFP analysis presented here is non-traditional in that it is not being used to analyze critical mission segments as a whole, but instead it is being used to analyze each task of the six critical mission segments identified in the previous Systems Analysis Report.
