Abstract
There has been a large number of organizational interventions in many countries, starting in the early 1970's, that have attempted to bring about fundamental changes in the organization of work and in labour-management relationships. These can collectively be referred to as quality of working life (QWL) projects. The introduction of QWL in DND has been approached in a careful but systematic manner. There have been significant improvements in social processes, impressive changes in technological processes, and some basic housekeeping changes. If the process can be maintained, it has been a very successful organizational change intervention.
