Abstract
This paper present a simple method to archive data. It consists principally in a method of naming directories within a pre-defined directory structure and where these directory names correspond to keywords that can be retrieved from a database. No special software neither file format are required, only a few discipline from the operators that make the data acquisition. However, the benefits are considerable. First, it becomes easier to exchange data with others and, second, the archive can be automatically decoded by a program. This directory structure allows to program a database application that can read the archive content and automatically feed a database catalogue with all the information retrieved about the data files found in the archive. This last point is particularly useful for large deployment trial where thousand of data files are acquired.
