Abstract
This report is an updated user's manual for the VIMGEN code. The changes to the manual reflect recent improvements of this vibration isolation system model generation and visualization program. Two objectives were achieved in the present work. The first involved the development of a finite element capability and a simple analysis procedure for computing condensed stiffness matrices of practical vibration isolation mounts, which normally have complex geometries and are subjected to large pre-loads that result in finite static deformation. Detailed numerical studies were conducted on three practical vibration isolation mounts and the condensed stiffness matrices corresponding to various pre-load levels were obtained. The second part of the present work was associated with further enhancement of the VIMGEN program, including implementation of a HOOD-based animation capability; a capability for calculating mass and mass moements of inertia of beams, beam raft and entire system, and an expansion of the 2D graphics capability.
