Abstract
Over the past several years, Array Systems Computing has developed a CANTASS Mission Simulator (CMS) system for the Department of National Defence (DND). An important feature of this simulation facility is the generation of realistic acoustic data, which in turn requires accurate modeling of the physical position of the towed array sensor as it moves through a virtual ocean. A chain link model is used to provide estimates of the towed array hydrophone location over time, in order to predict the effect on the beamformed acoustic data as the array flexes during turns and speed changes. The package that provides the chain link model is called BCABLE. To make the package easier to use, it has been encapsulated as a Generic Signal Processing Block (GSPB) a within a controller called the Generic Post Analysis System (GPAS). This system will be used within the simulation environment of the Networked Underwater Warfare TDP for evaluation of data management algorithms and pre-trial testing.
