Abstract
Mechanical equipment is being used in humanitarian demining activities around the world. Frequently this equipment has not been subjected to rigorous test and evaluation, and the only performance data available comes as a result of its field use. This paper discusses some of the drawbacks of this approach and suggests a model for test and evaluation of mechanical equipment based on a program by the Canadian Centre for Mine Action Technologies.
