Abstract
Precise knowledge of the infrared (IR) signature of military asset is essential in any operation where the IR threat is present. This technical report describes the methodology and software developed at DRDC Valcartier to evaluate, from IR images, the absolute energy emitted by military targets. The methodology strictly applies the guidelines established during the last 20 years by NATO groups dedicated to IR measurements. WinISAS, for “Windows Infrared Signature Analysis Software”, was developed between 1997 and 2002 on a Windows NT/2000 platform and uses all facilities available from these systems. It is a complete IR analysis tool that can be easily used by scientists engineers and technicians. It is adapted for new types of IR cameras available on the market. Its accuracy and efficiency has been demonstrated in several occasions.
