Abstract
This report presents the theoretical background and the numerical scheme for predicting HALIFAX class bow-flare impulsive loads. The hull geometry of HALIFAX class is first approximated by a NURBS surface, from which any hull cross section can be determined for computation of two-dimensional slamming loads. Solution of the nonlinear free surface is a key element of the developed method. Validation of free surface computations with existing analytical solutions indicates good agreement. Developed software includes a graphical user interface (GUI) and visualization using the Qt GUI library and OpenGL rendering library.
