Abstract
This report covers a wide range of topics in the area of planar microwave “metamaterials” which are densely interconnected arrays of capacitors, inductors and resistors (or their distributed equivalents). These arrays behave as materials quite unlike the more familiar ones such as dielectrics, exhibiting unique microwave properties. These novel properties enable the design, analysis and experimental demonstration of new types of devices such as antennas, microwave lenses, feed networks and diplexers.
