Abstract
A series of underwater explosion tests of increasing severity has been conducted on two medium-scale flat plate targets to investigate the loading and response due to the detonation of a close-proximity high-explosive charge. This paper provides a brief description of the test series, the flat plate target and associated instrumentation for measuring pressure loading and structural response. Test data are presented, including high-speed video images, to show the details of the pressure loading and the target response during the shock and bubble phases.
