Abstract
H.P. White Laboratory performed ballistic limit (V sub 50) tests in accordance with DRDC Valcartier instructions. Both 30 mm x 165 mm AP-T and 14.5 mm x 114 API B-32 ammunition were used again different targets that consisted of ceramic tiles of different thicknesses (9, 19, 25 and 38 mm) glued over two different metallic backings. These backings were made of HHA (¼”) or aluminium 5083-H131 (1.75”). The ceramic tiles over these backings were surrounded by commercial steel tiles of the same thicknesses as the confinement. Tests were performed at normal and 30° obliquity angle however; limited number of tests was completed with 14.5 mm ammunition since the threat was not enough powerful to perforate the available targets.
