Abstract
This project report documents the findings of the Maritime Operational Research Tool Set Review carried out by the Central Operational Research Team as part of its mandate to stimulate intellectual renewal within the Operational Research Division (now the Centre for Operational Research and Analysis). Based on research carried out during Phase 2 of the Review, specific recommendations are given for each of six methodological areas identified as gaps or deficiencies in the maritime operational research tool set. The six methodological areas are listed below. 1) Task Group Effectiveness Modelling 2) Use of Force Planning Scenarios 3) Decision Support and Statistical Advice 4) Costing Analysis and Cost Models 5) Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance Modelling 6) Issues with Detailed Physical Models.
