Abstract
This document introduces the initial version of the Capability Engineering Process (CEP), which aims to address the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces’ (DND/CF) near-term objective of bridging the gap between the Capability-Based Planning (CBP) and Acquisition processes. The intended audience for this document are DND/CF decision-makers and any other stakeholders who have an interest in the CEP and its origin. The document quickly reviews the preliminary steps that led to CEP Definition (e.g., Analysis of current situation, state-of-the-art reviews, development of CEP Foundations), and introduces the international standards, architecture framework and development approaches that guided the definition of CEP processes. Finally, it provides an overview of the Technical Engineering and Project processes that compose the CEP (e.g., assumptions, taxonomy, definitions, and highlevel models).
