Abstract
The Atmospheric Quality Testing System (AQUATS) is a collection of embedded computers and atmospheric sensors designed to permit long duration automated sampling and reporting of air quality within military vehicles, especially submarines. Under this contract, a computer hardware and software platform was designed and implemented that could support the AQUATS task. The software is based on the previously-developed GUARDIAN architecture with suitable enhancements. The architecture has been extended to support user interfaces along with specific display and acquisition hardware. Although several elements of the contract dependent on external input were unable to be completed, the basic prtotypes for AQUATS is nearly finished. Once appropriate sensors are available and their drivers are complete,it will be a simple matter to have an AQUATS prototype operational on this Linux-based, PC/104 platform.
