Abstract
As part of a BL2 with the Directorate of Aerospace Engineering Support DAES, DRDC Toronto required testing to be conducted on a thermal immersion manikin to evaluate the thermal resistance of the NBC immersion suit LASA in a wave pool. Parallel to the manikin testing, human testing was performed using the same test facilities. In conjunction with this evaluation, the thermal resistance of the ACE extreme cold weather garments and the modified current flyer's coverall immersion suit was also measured. This report details the thermal resistance results of the ACE extreme cold weather garments, LASA immersion suit, and modified current flyer's coverall immersion suit in stil air and 40 cm waves. These results will be compared to values recorded from human subjects using the same wave height tested at the same test facility (wave tank).
