Abstract
DSSP21 is a semiemperically based computer code for evaluating the dynamics and maneuverability of streamlined underwater vehicles including submarines. This report summarized the algorithms and numerical methods used in the program; they include methods for estimating the hydronamics of hull and appendage components, ballast blowing, flooding, and so on. In a time simulation, the system differential equations and the equations of motion are integrated simultaneously. While the report is intended to be a companion to the DSSP21 User Guide, it is in some respect more general, and provides an overview of submarine simulation methods that may be of interest to a wider audience.
