Abstract
For several years, DRDC Ottawa has been acquiring and processing airborne polarimetric radar imagery from the Environment Canada Convair-580 aircraft. The aircraft has a Global Positioning System (GPS) recording system onboard and GPS data is recorded for the duration of each flight. The GPS data must be differentially processed to provide accurate geographic positions during the flight. Reference GPS data is provided by one or more base stations. This document describes how to create a differentially-processed GPS data set using Waypoint Consulting Inc.’s GrafNav/GrafNet software, version 6.03b. It covers conversion to GrafNav GPB format, determining positions of base stations, and combining the data sets to produce a differentially processed ASCII output file. The software works with a series of GUI’s. Each one is reproduced in this guide along with appropriate parameters filled in.
