Abstract
The United States and Canadian 1982-1984 Thomas Register as well as the Frazier Register were searched for the names of Companies manufacturing or supplying activated charcoal, molecular sieves, other adsorbents, respirators and protective canisters. The Calgon Corporation was the sole American source of ASC charcoal which meets MIL-C-13724-C (EA 13 Oct. 1976) specifications. An active charcoal manufactured by Anderson Company had the highest adsorbent capacity for organic vapor. Several manufacturers of molecular sieves with pore sizes from 3 to 13 Angstrom were found. Sources of cross linked Polymers with adsorbent capacity were also found as well as Companies manufacturing various silica gel adsorbents. Safety equipment agents supplying a large variety of gas masks with protective canisters were contacted, none of the gas masks are suitable for the military. A list of Companies contacted and their catalogues were submitted separately from the contract report.
