Abstract
An automated system utilizing two Varian gas chromatographs, a Varian 401 Chromatography Data System and an Apple II+ computer has been developed to perform repetitive analysis for Chemical Warfare or other target vapours either penetrating through or desorbing from materials. Single- or simultaneous dual-detector analysis of target vapours in effluent gas streams from one or two vapour sources can be performed by use of a heated multiport gas sampling valve. Software for the storage of vapour analysis results on the stand-alone microcomputer has been developed. As well, programs for post-run selection and storage of quantitative results of specific components based on retention time, output of tabular summaries of the selected component concentration with elapsed time and graphical display and hardcopy of the concentration-elapsed time profiles are described.
