Abstract
We recover from first principles a group of equations that outline part of the internal workings of RAPPORT, a computer code for predicting radar cross-section. An exact integral representation of the scattered field is first derived. This is then simplified on the basis of the usual far-field and tangent-plane approximations. The resulting physical-optics integrals are evaluated analytically for a polygonal elementary scatterer.
