Abstract
The program suite, BellhopDRDC_active_v5, is designed for computing active signal excess and reverberation time series at a single frequency. It consists of two separate programs which together produce a tactical parameter, the signal excess, for bistatic range-dependent scenarios with 3-D sensor beams. Range dependence in bathymetry, sound speed and bottom loss descriptions are handled for each bearing direction defined from the transmitter or sensor. A clutter capability has also been included. The propagation engine for this program is the web version of Bellhop, dated September 2010. The purpose of this report is two-fold. First, it documents the specific files from the web version of Bellhop that are used in BellhopDRDC_active_v5. Second, this report provides, in both mathematics and programming code, the details of the reverberation, target echo and signal excess calculations in BellhopDRDC_active_v5.
