Abstract
This document entitled “Canadian National Search and Rescue (SAR) Policy” is a final deliverable associated with the Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) Centre for Operational Research and Analysis (CORA) SAR System Performance Assessment Toolbox (SPAT) Advanced Research Project. The purpose of this report was to identify Canada’s national SAR policy, including the roles and responsibilities of government and non-government agencies that participate in the National SAR Program. This report was completed by CAE Professional Services (Canada) Inc. under Task #132 for contract #W7714-083663/001/SV to DRDC CORA. The objective of this report was to conduct a literature review of SAR Legislation and Policy established by the federal government to identify current national SAR requirements. This project also required a review of the National SAR Program to identify the levels of service, roles and responsibilities of various government and non-government departments and agencies participating in Canadian SAR.
