Abstract
The CBRNE Research and Technology Initiative (CRTI) funded related projects CRTI-04-0029RD and CRTI-07-0190TA to produce prototype electronic dosimeters capable of meeting both civilian and military performance specifications, a feat that has not been achieved by any existing commercial device to-date. The first project (04-0029RD) was focused on the design, construction, and testing of an electronic neutron dosimeter (END1), while the second project (07-0190TA) was aimed at incorporating gamma dosimetry into the previously developed electronic neutron dosimeter (resulting in END2). Significant technical hurdles resulted in final prototype devices for both projects being delivered simultaneously to DRDC Ottawa for detailed device testing. This report outlines the results of this device testing. Overall, the devices performed well, but several significant issues were encountered that will require further work prior to commercialization.
