Abstract
Following the improvements to the PRA Tool that were discussed in [1], in response to the results of the evaluation presented in [2], significant design and implementation work was performed to address the identified functional and performance-related limitations of the software. The relational, SQL-based, database is replaced by a new serialisation mechanism that stores the event tree diagram directly, which allows the definition of complex relations between the different branches much more easily, in addition to drastically improving the performance of the tool. A new processing engine for the tool performs the risk calculations using multi-threading. The statically defined access panel user interface is also replaced by a dynamically generated panel, which provides more information to the user in addition to being more responsive.
