Abstract
This study sought to assess the post-deployment reintegration experiences of CF Reservists who had deployed as a part of a recent task force participating in OP ATHENA. Reservists completed a short survey approximately 6-8 months post-deployment. One aspect of the survey, the focus of the current research, asked Reservists to indicate their level of satisfaction with their post-deployment reintegration experience and factors impacting on this experience. On average, Reservists indicated that they were “neither satisfied nor dissatisfied/neutral” with their post-deployment reintegration experience. Of the 106 individuals responding to this question, close to 60% provided more detailed written information regarding the factors affecting their experience. This information was categorized according to the positive comments, negative comments, and recommendations provided with respect to: 1) services and appointments necessary during the reintegration process; 2) employment following deployment and; 3) military support during reintegration. Preliminary recommendations designed to further enhance the post-deployment reintegration process for CF Reservists are provided.
