Abstract
The validity of using forearm blood flow changes as an objective measurement of motion sickness susceptibility was established using cross-coupled angular accelerations (Coriolis). Since visual stimuli can also cause motion sickness, forearm blood flow changes were studied using pseudo-Coriolis stimulation involving a rotating visual field together with head movements. Preliminary studies indicate that such pseudo-Coriolis stimuli are very effective in inducing symptoms of motion sickness. Furthermore, the changes in blood flow symptoms of motion sickness appear to be similar in the two conditions.
