Abstract
The paper briefly describes how X-ray lasers operate and outlines their potential as weapon systems. The advantages and disadvantages of X-ray laser weapons are then discussed in the context of the "Strategic Defense Initiative". Finally, the implications of this technology for Canada, NORAD, superpower relations and arms control are examined.
