Abstract
The Forward Air-Land Battle is modelled as a multi-resource attrition game. The resources in this model are ground combat units, air defence units and multi-role aircraft. A general deterministic continuous (Lanchester) formulation is stated along with a probabilistic discrete (Markov) methodology. The resource allocation in the Markov model can be optimized and the value of fighting or retreating can be estimated. Numerical examples are provided.
