Abstract
The performance of high yield strength steel plate and weldments, subjected to high levels of dynamic plastic deformation from explosive shock, is an important aspect in the study of materials used in submarine pressure hull construction. The report describes the development of an explosive shock test procedure and its application to study the behaviour of HY80 plate, several shielded metal arc weldments of HY80, and several metal inert gas narrow gap HY80 weldments.
