Abstract
The report is a planning guide for the selection of military transport aircraft and the choice of a suitable fleet size. It was designed primarily for long-term planning, (five to ten years or longer). Such factors as equipment to be moved, aircraft characteristics, cargo loading, route selection and airlift scheduling are discussed. A methodology is presented for the assessment of new aircraft resources and airlift destinations. It should assist planners with the rapid examination of airlift options and provide answers to "what if" questions.
