Abstract
The first study (Phase I) compares the responses to concurrent vs exclusive strength and endurance training. Measures of total muscle cross-sectional area, muscle fiber size, capillary density, muscle enzyme activities, and morphometric characteristics were made to identify mechanisms underlying any antagonism which occurred. The second study (Phase II) compares two regimens of concurrent strength and endurance training.
