Abstract
The aim of the project was two-fold: the investigation of several numerical algorithms for deconvolution and resolution enhancement of ultrasonic pulse-echo data, and the definition and implementation of a software development environment for the NDE Micro VAX. The numerical techniques which were examined included synthetic aperture focussing for removal of wavefront migration in b-scans, inversion by the method of characteristics for estimation of the acoustic impedance profile of individual A-scans, and deconvolution for resolution enchancement and noise suppression of C-scans.
