Abstract
The report begins with a description of two frequency line trackers, developed by Williams and Rickers (WRT) and Bethel and Gauss (BGT). It then moves on to give an evaluation of these trackers, both theoretically and by simulation. In the majority of the tests, the WRT outperforms the BGT, especially in the ability to recover after a track loss. The BGT, while based on the Bayesian approach and hence should be optimal, suffers from the restriction of the model it uses in computing the probability density functions. Simulation results, together with possible suggestion to improve these trackers, are included.
