Abstract
Six month progress report to develop a trusted network architecture for use in distributed computer systems. Various types and instances of security policies are discussed. Alternative policies are offered. Investigates the security implications of networking together systems whose security mechanisms are not all equally trustworthy. The interest and scope of formal modelling are discussed and some security modelling schemes are considered.
