Abstract
The document is the third in a series of progress reports on research to develop a Trusted Network Architecture for use in Distributed Computer Systems. The report contains five sections: (1) Introduction; (2) Architectural Diagram and Specification; (3) Formal Security Model: The current state of our formal network security model is presented; (4) Definitions of Security: A discussion of different currently popular approaches to security, focussing on objections previously raised in these reports and in the literature; and (5) Bibliography Addendum: References in addition to those listed in the first report.
