Abstract
The document describes the program FSTNACS (Finite Strip Transient Nonlinear Analysis of Composite Structures) Version 1.0, which is capable of numerically simulating the static and transient response of layered composite beams and unstiffened plates, and stiffened plates exhibiting geometric and/or material nonlinear behaviour. The program was developed specifically to handle composite plate structures made of fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) materials. These structures are treated as layered media but still obeying the Kirchhoff hypothesis. That is, shear deformation is ignored in the plate regions between stiffeners, but it is included in the stiffeners themselves. The material constitutive relations are modelled numerically as bilinear, work hardening orthotropic elastic-plastic in the principal material directions and in pure shear. A quadratic form in the stress components is used to represent the yield function and also for failure in a particular layer. TRUNCATED
