Abstract
The report examines the factors that determine the performance of hybrid analog/digital wideband Communications ESM surveillance receivers employing conventional electronic signal processing techniques. A set of receiver architectures is defined, each reflecting a different location of the analog/digital boundary. The feasibility and performance of each architecture is evaluated in the light of the current state of the art in analog and digital processing technology. The optimal architecture is selected and is analyzed in detail. Estimates are provided of the cost and time required to implement the selected architecture.
