Abstract
Canadian industry may apply for support of defence oriented research from the Defence Industrial Research (DIR) program administered by the Department of National Defence. The DIR program is intended to assist Companies seeking support for research projects oriented primarily to defence technologies and to those wishing to avail themselves of the advantages that accrue through limited assistance from, and liaison and information exhange with defence agencies. The objective is to improve the capability for innovation in Canadian industry thereby enhancing its ability to share in the development and supply of materiel and equipment to meet Canadian, NATO, or other Allied defence requirements. This objective is pursued by the financial support of selected applied research projects of high technical merit having promise for the stimulation of productivity and economic growth. TRUNCATED
