Abstract
To accurately predict underwater acoustic performance a wide variety of oceanographic parameters must be taken into consideration. The Acoustic Performance Prediction (APP) database has been created for this purpose. The database is a collection of oceanographic data stored in a digital format. The digital format allows the data to be used at any scale and projection thus allowing for easy comparison and integrated processing to be performed. Each data set is stored in a separate file. Each file is structured in a standard format thus a standard form of access to all of the data is possible. The report contains a detailed description of the parameters, areas covered, and the structure for each data file, as well as the FORTRAN 77 subroutines for accessing the files. A mapping program for producing visual output of the contents of the database is also covered in this report.
