Abstract
The manual describes the use and operation of the interactive, graphic tablet driven computer program DIGFEM, a digitizer for generating two-dimensional finite element models from scaled structural drawings. Any planar structure represented as a scaled orthographic projection can be digitized using DIGFEM, including ship structures such as transverse sections, longitudinal structure and flat decks, as well as projections of framed masts. DIGFEM can also be used to generate a database of ship transverse sections for input to the DREA program SCRAP which performs classical strength analysis including bending, shear and torsion.
